Missa Solemnis ‘Tu Es Petrus’
Commissioned especially for the Pope’s 80th birthday in October 2007, this dramatically orchestrated composition by Wolfgang Seifen was premiered at St Peter’s Basilica in Rome on 10th October 2007.
Musically modern and dramatic, with echoes of Benjamin Britten, the recording by the Choir and Orchestra of Humboldt’s University, Berlin, nevertheless preserves the traditional spirituality of the Solemn Mass.
