Supporting priests' ministry
Priests are Christ’s representatives on earth – the visible sign of God's consoling presence. They have taken vows to bring the Word of God to all those who long for Him.
In Syria – and other countries wracked by war – the priests have stayed behind when nearly all others have fled, to serve their people. In countries where Christians have been subjected to persecution, priests have become martyrs to their faith by refusing to bow to extremists – priests like Fr Ragheed Ganni, who was gunned down by terrorists when he refused to close his church in Mosul, Iraq, telling them "How can I close the house of God?"
Many priests who receive your help are ministering in the very poorest parts of the world. They rely on your kindness to provide the very basics for themselves and their parishes.
Thanks to you, we support priests in their ministry by providing them with Mass stipends, subsistence aid and help with their theological formation – as well as supporting projects for their parishes, such as building chapels or providing a car or bicycle. Each year, we are able to help about 25,000 priests – as well as 15,000 seminarians.
