Your help for Pakistan's suffering Christians
Bringing hope amid the suffering
Pakistan’s 1.1 million Christians have suffered a catalogue of persecution in recent years. Throughout their ordeal, they have clung to their faith and to hope – thanks in no small part to your solidarity and support.
You have enabled Aid to the Church in Need to make a real commitment to the faithful in Pakistan in their hour of need.
Some of our most important projects have been to help Christian communities recover from a wave of extremist attacks in February 2006. You have helped rebuild two of the worst-damaged churches, Saint Mary’s Church in Sukkur, Sindh province, and Saint Rouque’s Church in the Archdiocese of Lahore.
The Daughters of Saint Paul also received emergency aid after their mission centre was destroyed by extremists.
And you have enabled us to offer emergency help to the victims of the 2009 anti-Christian attacks in Gojra and Koriyan, both in the Diocese of Faisalabad.
You are providing for the spiritual needs of the faithful too, supporting education and formation programmes in Karachi, spiritual renewal courses for the Franciscan Tertiary Sisters of Lahore, a retreat and workshop for 46 catechists in Multan diocese and courses at the Catechists Training Centre in Khushpur, near Faisalabad.
Thanks to you, priests and Sisters can now reach the people they serve in new vehicles suitable for the local terrain.
And we have passed on your Mass offerings for Gregorian Masses to be said by priests in Lahore archdiocese and at the Seminary of Christ the King in Karachi.
