God speaks to his children – Aid to the Church in Need’s little miracle
Aid to the Church in Need’s Child’s Bible celebrated its 30th birthday in 2009. Since 1979, about 50 million copies have been printed and distributed to children around the world.
To date, the Child’s Bible has been translated into 171 languages, making it universally accessible to Christians wherever they may be. For many it is the only book they own, and not only teaches them key stories from the Bible, but also helps them learn to read.
As well as proclaiming the Word of God to children and young people, ‘God speaks to his children’ is a vital tool for families to develop their faith.
Catechists use the Child’s Bible to help the faithful deepen their understanding of Christianity. The simple, child-friendly versions of some of the key texts from the Old and New Testaments are perfect to introduce the Faith to people.
Aid to the Church in Need’s Child’s Bible has also been given out to people in hospitals, orphanages, retirement homes and prisons, military chaplaincies and even to crew on merchant sea vessels. It helps bring spiritual comfort to those enduring their own Way of the Cross.

How can I help children around the world to read God’s Word?
Some years Aid to the Church in Need receives requests for more than a million copies of the Child’s Bible. It is only possible for us to meet this demand thanks to the generous support of individual benefactors, schools, parishes and others.
Buy one Child’s Bible and provide three more
The Child’s Bible is a perfect gift for children, grandchildren, nephews and nieces, especially to mark a First Holy Communion. Why not buy your own copy of the Child’s Bible and enable us to print and distribute another three copies to needy Catholic children elsewhere in the world?
It is also a great teaching resource for catechists preparing children for their First Holy Communion. Or perhaps your school or parish might like to buy them as mementoes of a child's First Holy Communion or as an Achievement Award.
Or a donation of just £1 will print one more Child’s Bible. How many will you help us print?

Thirty years of the Child’s Bible
Aid to the Church in Need’s Child’s Bible was first published in 1979 in response to a call from Pope John Paul II. More than thirty years later, it is a worldwide phenomenon.
Paying tribute to the Child’s Bible
“The children are enthusiastic, and the grown-ups too… We hope that you and your little grain of wheat will grow and make the world here, and wherever you have contacts, a little bit more ‘human’. God's blessing will make this possible.”
– Sister Nicola Sprenger, Manila, Philippines
