SYRIA: Reaching out to refugees fleeing civil warCategory: Emergency aid for refugees and disaster victims
Thanks to you, Aid to the Church in Need has been able to offer ongoing help to provide food, shelter and medicine to people from Syria as they escape violence and persecution in their homeland.
But we count on your compassion and kindness to continue fulfilling these promises of love.
Since the conflict began, you have helped support tens of thousands of suffering people in Syria's Valley of the Christians and provided emergency packages for refugees in neighbouring Jordan and Lebanon, where among those receiving help are people in the Bekaa Valley, close to Syria. The help includes assistance for families, including cooking essentials and baby milk.
Working with bishops and other Christian leaders, ACN has given ongoing support since the crisis in Syria broke two years ago.
Aid to the Church in Need's Middle East projects coordinator Fr Andrew Halemba explained: "The people are in despair. They feel they have no future. They have seen so many atrocities and, despite every effort to help, there is sometimes not enough to go round.
"The people we spoke to were extremely grateful. They were saying that our benefactors had helped save their lives."
